Northwestern in San Francisco
A variety of Northwestern schools and programs host opportunities in San Francisco that include short-term classes, quarter-long residencies, short immersion experiences and alumni and partner events.
Located at 44 Montgomery Street in San Francisco’s Financial District, the roughly 16,000-square-foot space includes a broadcast studio, a design lab, classrooms, presentation areas and small-group work rooms.
The space features a state-of-the-art presentation area to engage with alumni and partners in the Bay Area, collaborative classrooms and a flexible design studio. It is used for quarter-long residencies, short immersion experiences and events for alumni and collaborators.
In addition to courses, the San Francisco space is used for:
- Speakers and lectures
- Workshops and conferences
- Alumni meetings and events
Because the demand for academic program activity in San Francisco no longer supports the need for a dedicated space, the University will officially move out in spring 2026.
