Asiah Florczak

Asiah Florczak is a third year at Northwestern University majoring in Philosophy and minoring in Black Studies and Critical Theory. She is a first generation student from Frederick, Maryland and a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Her academic interests include Philosophy of Race, Africana Philosophy, Philosophy of Sport, and Philosophy of Protest. Asiah, who is a passionate sports enthusiast, has channeled her love for sports into her research. She is currently exploring the moral implications of Black professional athletes' involvement in activism and protest, with a specific emphasis on the NBA, and is committed to further developing this research. Outside of her research, Asiah serves as the co-chair for the Black Health and Wellness Collaborative, and is committed to cultivating a safe space for Black students on campus to share their struggles with mental health. In her freetime, Asiah enjoys watching and participating in various sports such as basketball and football, reading, and listening to music. After graduating, she aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in Philosophy.
