Cheyanne LawrenceCheyanne Lawrence is a rising junior at Northwestern University, majoring in English literature and global health studies. Her research interests are African American literature and Afro-Caribbean literature, specifically Black women’s writing from the Caribbean. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, she is interested in studying literary depictions of femininity and womanhood in the political landscape of revolutions for independence in the Caribbean and newly emancipated Caribbean countries. Cheyanne is also interested in women’s health and spends time volunteering for the menstrual equity movement. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a PhD in literature. In her free time, Cheyanne enjoys yoga, ballet, and cooking.
