Mattlyn Cordova

Mattlyn Cordova is an alumnus of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, where she pursued a major in Gender and Sexuality Studies, with minors s in Film and Media Studies and Latinx Studies. Broadly, she is interested in the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality within film and television. In addition to receiving the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, Mattlyn was a recipient of the Program in Biological Sciences Summer Research Grant, a recipient of J.G. Nola scholarship for academic merit, and is a Women's Educational Aid Association Scholar. She has presented on trans*-Latinx films at the National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies and the Latina/o Studies Association conferences. Her thesis, “Walking the Borderlands: A Framework of Trans* Latinx World-Making in Film” has been awarded the best Gender and Sexuality Studies thesis prize as well as the Latinx Studies Thesis Prize for 2019. This year, she was also selected as program marshal. Next year, Mattlyn will be pursuing a PhD at Harvard University in American Studies.
