Kathleen Nganga

Kathleen Nganga graduated in 2018 with a political science major and history minor in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University. In addition to her major, she is greatly interested in sociology, African American studies, and African studies. She is committed to improving political and educational outcomes for underserved groups; her research focuses on marginalization, policy responsiveness, as well as political mobilization and conflict. Kathleen was a 2018 James C. Gaither Junior Research Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace where she worked in the Democracy Conflict and Governance Program. She is a 2017 Truman Scholar, was a 2016 Foreign Language and Area Studies recipient for Swahili, and was a Posner Research Fellow in 2015. She plans to pursue a career in academia. She received her Master’s from Oxford in sociology and is currently pursuing a PhD in political science at Johns Hopkins.
