Hazim Abdullah-Smith (Abdullah) '16

Abdullah graduated from the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences with a  degree in African American Studies, and a certificate in Civic Engagement. His 2016 senior thesis focused on spatial practices of race in Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man. Throughout his time at Northwestern, Abdullah pursued various forms of political, social and scholarly activism. In April 2016, Abdullah presented a paper at the Stanford University Research Association Conference. He also recently received the 2016 department award for Academic and Community Leadership in African American Studies.  Abdullah is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.
