Four will receive the Alumni Medal

Four industry leaders in public health, biotechnology, global business and retail will receive the 2020 Northwestern Alumni Medal — the highest honor given by the Northwestern Alumni Association. This year’s recipients are Judy Belk, Andrew Chan, Christopher Combe and Gordon Segal.

University launches search committee for next chief investment officer

Northwestern has formed a search committee to identify its next vice president and chief investment officer. The current leader, William McLean, will be stepping down Oct. 16 to take on a similar position at the University of Richmond.

Most massive black hole merger yet observed in gravitational waves

An international research collaboration including Northwestern astronomers has witnessed the birth of an “intermediate-mass” black hole. This is the first conclusive discovery of an intermediate-mass black hole, an object which has long eluded astronomers.
