Is Breadfruit the Climate Change-Proof Food of the Future?

Breadfruit has always played an important role in Oceanic cuisine for thousands of years. As the climate continues to shift because of human actions, it now plays a significant role in addressing global hunger. Weinberg’s Daniel Horton and Nyree Zerega’s research is featured in Smithsonian Magazine, highlighting how breadfruit is a neglected and underutilized species that happens to be resilient in climate change projections, as well as how climate change further emphasizes the need to diversify agriculture.

Music: Bridging Memories for People With Alzheimer's

A new study led by Feinberg’s Dr. Borna Bonakdarpour and his team reveals that music is helping to foster nonverbal communication for dementia patients. The Alzheimer’s Association has also recognized music therapy as a way to treat dementia without using drugs. In gathering research for the study, Bonakdarpour and his team got 21 patients and their caregivers to engage in the Musical Bridges to Memory program once a week over three months. 

Stress During Pregnancy May Have a Negative Emotional Impact on Babies, Study Finds

According to a new study in the journal Infancy, babies of moms who experienced more fluctuations in stress during pregnancy showed more fear, sadness and distress at three months than those of moms who were less stressed. Feinberg’s Leigha MacNeill spoke with CNN about how these frequent fluctuations may have important implications for children's emotional development.
