Listening to student perspectives

Dear Northwestern Community,

Bryan, Effi and other members of the Committee recently attended a dinner at President Schill’s home with Arab, Palestinian and Muslim students. The dinner provided an opportunity to listen to the students describe their hopes and dreams for their futures at Northwestern.  The students were open and thoughtful in helping us understand their current and past experiences.

The Committee’s working group on evaluation continues to move its work forward. The larger committee will establish a set of additional work groups to build momentum toward assessing the state of Northwestern; listening to students, staff and faculty; considering curricular and pedagogical issues; and making recommendations to the president and the provost.

Bryan and Effi have had several meetings over the past two weeks tied to the Committee’s work, and the week ahead similarly will be very busy.
