Nancy Himmelfarb is a career coach for Northwestern's Master of Science in Energy and Sustainability (MSES) Program.

Nancy is a Chicago-based strategic advisor who works with organizations to advance sustainability, reputation, and business growth, while reducing risk. She specializes in sustainability strategy development, stakeholder engagement, corporate reporting, and governance.

Her clients span diverse industries, with an emphasis on food and agriculture. They include Fortune 500 companies (e.g., Conagra Brands, Target Corporation, and Corteva Agriscience); industry associations (e.g., U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs, and National Chicken Council); and nonprofits (e.g., Center for Food Integrity). Nancy also served on the Board of the American Sustainable Business Council, and frequently speaks at industry and company events.

She brings a unique combination of business, legal and sustainability expertise, based on 25+ years’ experience as a consultant, corporate attorney, and board advisor to public and private companies. Before founding Himmelfarb Sustainability Consulting, she built legal departments for three businesses, including Williams-Sonoma, where she also started a successful grassroots sustainability program.

Nancy received her B.A. from Stanford University, a J.D. from UCLA School of Law (ranked 8th in class), and a graduate certificate in sustainability management from University of Chicago.
