Dance Marathon raises $1.2 million for epilepsy in honor of alumnus' son.

Led by 5-year-old Tommy Stanton, above, more than 1,000 dancers raised a record-breaking $1.2 million for the Danny Did Foundation and the Evanston Community Foundation at the 39th Dance Marathon in March. The annual fundraiser passed the $1 million mark for the third year in a row. The Danny Did Foundation was founded in 2010 by Mike Stanton (SCS00) and his wife, Mariann, after their 4-year-old son, Danny, died from epilepsy (see “Remembering Danny,” summer 2012). The foundation supports epilepsy awareness and subsidizes seizure detection devices for families. Since Dance Marathon was founded in 1975, Northwestern students have raised more than $14 million.
