Ruth M. Litvak, PhD
School of Dentistry, 1958-1962

Ruth Litvak (1921-2013) began her professional career on Wall Street at Merrill Lynch as a brokerage clerk before moving to Chicago in 1944. In Chicago, she received a master’s degree in anthropology at the University of Chicago, then a PhD in biology in 1958.
She taught at Northwestern’s dental school from 1958-1962. While at Northwestern, Professor Litvak was featured in the Chicago Tribune for her work in assisting a murder investigation by identifying the victim through dental records.
