Dr. Lauren B. Alloy became an assistant professor of psychology at Northwestern University in 1979 after completing her doctoral degree in experimental and clinical psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. During her studies she was awarded the National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship in 1974 followed by the National Institute of Mental Health Predoctoral Fellowship in 1977. Her research interests were cognitive processes in depression, social cognition, and contingency learning, to name a few. In 1982, while teaching at Northwestern, Dr. Alloy received a MacArthur Foundation Grant to study depression.
