Jean Hardisty, PhD

Jean Hardisty, recognized in the Chicago LBGT Hall of Fame was an organizer and philanthropist. Dr. Hardisty contributed to the opening of Chicago’s first battered women’s shelter and was a founding member of Chicago’s Abused Women Coalition in 1978. Dr. Hardisty also served on faculty at Northwestern from 1977-1979 to as an assistant professor of political science. During her time at the university she spoke to students about women’s movement.
