Eliza Root

Eliza Root graduated Northwestern Woman’s Medical School in 1882. She worked as an attending physician at Wesley Hospital and Women and Children’s Hospital from 1886-1896. After this, she was appointed professor of obstetrics and state medicine and medical jurisprudence at Northwestern Woman’s Medical School. She was recognized as an honorary member of the Medical Women’s Club of Chicago and Honorary President of the Alumni Association of Northwestern Woman’s Medical School. Root published works on coeducation in the medical field.
