Bertha Shafer

Bertha Shafer worked as assistant professor in Northwestern’s dermatology and syphilology department beginning in 1940. In 1944, she published a paper on the complications in the use of penicillin in the treatment of gonorrhea because it can mask the early signs of syphilis.
