Beatrice Tucker, MD

Dr. Beatrice Tucker (1897-1984) worked as an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University. During her time teaching, Dr. Tucker served as the director of the Chicago Maternity Center since 1932 as well as a senior attending at Wesley Memorial Hospital and an associate attending at Chicago Lying-In Hospital. Throughout her career, Dr. Tucker remained a steadfast advocate for women’s access to birth control, abortion, and home births. Today, Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine recognizes a student with the Beatrice Tucker, MD, Award in Obstetrics and Gynecology for their service and advocacy in women’s health.
