Project Description & Statistics

Seventy year old Dyche Stadium underwent a complete renovation between the 1996 and 1997 football seasons and was subsequently renamed Ryan Field. Major changes include lowering of the field by 5.5 feet, installation of natural grass, a new press box including a Stadium Club indoor seating area, a new football locker room and training facility north of the north end zone and new concession stands, toilets and seating.

A new press box clad with a combination of precast concrete, cement boards, aluminum panels and glass, cantilevers over the existing west side upper deck seating. Vertical steel trusses mounted on caissons support it. There are three enclosed levels for the stadium club, the written press and broadcast press. The area below the press box is a sheltered seating area called the Wildcat Den.

The concrete seating bowl areas were repaired and all new aluminum bench seating was installed including accessible areas for wheel chair seating.

A precast clad steel framed building was constructed north of the north end zone. This building contains NU football locker and equipment rooms as well as a state of the art sports medicine facility.

The playing surface was lowered 5.5 feet and changed to natural grass including subsurface drainage and irrigation.

Project Cost $30,000,000
