Oak Grove Library Center

Project Status: COMPLETED

The Oak Grove Library Center is a state of the art, climate controlled, high density service center that can house up to 1.9 million items in 12,000 square feet of space. The total gross square footage of the Center is approximately 19,000 square feet including all the processing and other necessary spaces. The property has the ability to expand by 8 times its initial capacity.

Collections in the center will include low-use general materials, many with online equivalents, from University Library, Galter Health Sciences Library, and the Pritzker Legal Research Center. The center will provide a safe, secure environment for this circulating collection. The relocation of general materials on-campus to the center will enable the libraries to relieve overcrowding in special collections and to continue to house unique items and important collections regularly browsed by researchers and students. It will also allow for reconfiguration of service spaces for students and faculty using the libraries' facilities. When operational, the center will offer scanning and circulation services with a 24-hour turn around for the campus community.
