Images of professionals in a meeting. On December 4, 2015, a panel of Northwestern University and Brigham Young University faculty examined the differences and similarities between women and men in top leadership positions. During the "Madam President? Women Leaders: Their Potential, Their Challenges" discussion, interventions that could increase the number of women in leadership roles and the potential mechanism by which women might make them more heard in public discourse, was also at the forefront of conversation. Our office made it possible for Evanston Township High School (ETHS) women to attend the event.

The Policy Research Briefing was one of many initiatives of the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) at Northwestern University that often intersects with ETHS. The mission of IPR is “to stimulate and support excellent social science research on significant public policy issues and to disseminate the findings widely—to students, scholars, policymakers and the public.” Thus the partnership with neighboring ETHS provides numerous opportunities for collaboration with a particular focus on equity in education. IPR faculty perform independent objective evaluation of major ETHS initiatives, brings research fellows to collaborate with ETHS Research and Evaluation department, provide consultation with the school community and collaborate on the design of evidence-based best practices.
