The Civic Leadership Institute was introduced in 1997 as an offering of CTD's new Civic Education Project and has remained a staple of CTD's leadership and service-learning programs.

Bio
The Civic Leadership Institute (CLI) provides students a unique opportunity to explore current social and political issues through service-learning experiences, exchanges with community leaders, and academic study. Students build awareness and opinions, develop critical thinking skills through dialogue and debate, hone their leadership skills, and create an action plan on a topic of interest, encouraging them to make positive change.
Through CLI, students have engaged with and learned from community members, organizational leaders, and members of government and participated in thousands of service projects with a wide range of community partners in the Chicagoland area and beyond.
