**Calendars may be picked up from the 10th Floor of Lurie Research!

Month Description Contributor(s)
January Depletion of dynein and KLP-18 fromC. elegansoocyte meiotic spindles causes individual chromosomes to form “mini” spindles that allow for each chromosome to segregate. Gabriel Cavin-Meza, Graduate Student, Wignall Lab
February 10X panel image of the vaginal epithelium from an imiquimod treated rhesus macaque 24hours post-VRC01-LS-Cy3 IV administration. Green = E-Cadherin, Red = VRC01-LS-Cy3, Blue = Nuclei. 10x panel image. Ann Marie Carias, PhD, Research Assistant Professor, Hope Lab
March Secondary follicle and primordial follicles found in human ovarian tissue

Elizabeth Tsui, MSTP Graduate Student, Laronda Lab

NU Pathology Core

April Immunofluorescent image of mouse oocyte meiosis in anaphase I shows oocyte specific phase separated liquid-like meiotic spindle domain, LISD (red), surrounding spindle poles and chromosomes (blue) moving towards poles through channels created by lateral microtubule bundles (green). Emily Czajkowski, Graduate Student, Wignall Lab
May Spindles from two C. elegans oocytes, with microtubules in magenta and chromosomes in green. One chromosome pair in each of these oocytes had extra crossovers, which caused defects in chromosome segregation during Meiosis I that resulted in the aberrant Meiosis II spindles shown.

Jeremy Hollis, Graduate Student, Wignall Lab

June Immunofluorescence of the proliferation marker PCNA (green) and the granulosa cell marker FOXL2 (red) counterstained with Hoechst (blue) in bovine ovarian cortex, scale bars 100 um. Ashley Diaz, MS-RSM Graduate Student, Laronda Lab
July Loss of Lypd4 disrupts sperm membrane ADAM complex, leading to sperm migration defects and male infertility. L. Cheng and E. Y. Xu, Xu Lab
August The evolution of in vitro culture: from static systems to EVATAR and its successor LATTICE, which allows for the integration of up to eight different tissue-engineered organ models in a dynamic integrated microfluidic network, elevating the biomimetic complexity afforded by traditional cultures. Hannes Campo, Sarah R. Wagner, Hunter B. Rogers, Teresa K. Woodruff, and J. Julie Kim
September An ovulating follicle from CD-1 mouse ovary 12 hours post-hCGinjection (H&E staining Jiyang Zhang, Graduate Student, Woodruff and Duncan Labs
October Localizing Lamin B1 using fluorescent immunohistochemistry in an antral follicle from a mouse ovary. Karen Velez, MS-RSM Graduate Student, Duncan Lab
November Mouse oocyte matured in vitro to metaphase II in human follicular fluid and stained for alpha-tubulin (green), actin (red), and DNA (blue). Shweta Dipali, Graduate Student, Duncan Lab
December Upon depletion of dynein fromC. elegansoocytes, meiotic spindle poles (in red) become unstable and rapidly splay apart. Gabriel Cavin-Meza, Graduate Student, Wignall Lab
