University-related travel to China, Iran, Italy and South Korea is prohibited

March 4, 2020

At this time, University-related travel to China, Iran, Italy and South Korea is prohibited based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of State.

Northwestern restricts undergraduate travel to countries deemed high-risk by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC has issued Warning Level 3 Travel Health Notices for those four countries and recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to those areas. The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has also issued travel advisories for those four countries, urging travelers to reconsider all non-essential travel to them, or avoid it completely in the case of China and Iran.

Travelers also should review and follow the CDC’s guidance and updates on the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak for more information.
