Announcement from Gov. Pritzker

Dear colleagues,

Today, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced new, targeted restrictions for bars and restaurants, retail shops and other businesses as COVID-19 numbers in the state continue to climb. We expect that your students, faculty and staff may have questions about how those restrictions impact Northwestern.

Today’s announcement does not directly impact Northwestern’s current Fall status, as universities may remain open and continue in-person activity in alignment with state guidelines. However, there are some new restrictions that go into place Friday that may impact certain operations, such as indoor recreation and events.

We are preparing an update message for the community to be released Friday, which will provide more information about post-Thanksgiving operations and implications of these new orders from the state as well as our own policy decisions. Our previous guidance about working remotely, if you are able, continues to apply.

We appreciate your partnership in doing everything we can to maintain a healthy campus environment.
