This program welcomes music students of all Italian language levels and offers a full range of opportunities for instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, and music performance majors through Music courses at the IES Abroad Center.  The Center Director, who is an active composer and music scholar, tailors a program that meets your particular musical needs and interests. Music students typically take one to three Music courses each term, combining private lessons with Scuola Civica instructors with music composition, history and theory courses at the IES Abroad Center. Students also have access to a large variety of non-Music courses in Communications, Film Studies, History, Literature, Political Science as well as a credit-bearing internship options.

Admission Info:
To apply, Northwestern students must: 

  1. Complete a Northwestern Study Abroad Application by the appropriate deadline
  2. Complete an IES Abroad application by the program's deadline

Languages: Italian, English

Language Requirements: 

None; however, students are required to take one Italian language course or one course taught in Italian on the program.

Housing: 

Students choose from the following housing options:

  • Student apartments with 3-6 other IES students (meals not included)
  • Limited number of homestays in Milanese homes throughout the city (14 meals/week)
