Location: Zurich, Switzerland


This exchange program provides the opportunity to study at the world class science and technology university, ETH Zurich, known throughout the world for its outstanding research record and the 21 Nobel Prize winners that are associated with the institution. Northwestern exchange students in the fields of science and engineering will engage in a combination of course work and research, which will translate back to Northwestern as independent study credit.

Languages: German

Language Requirements: 

  • At least 2 years or equivalent of college-level German. Classes are generally taught in German, although texts and exams may be in English.
  • Students must meet with Professor John Paluch in the Department of German to assess their language skills prior to application. 


ETH has no accommodations but assists students in finding nearby residence hall-like housing.
