Japan Study at Waseda University

Description:Students attend classes at Waseda University’s School of International Liberal Studies, which include intensive Japanese language instruction and content courses across the curriculum taught in English. A one-month cultural practicum opportunity is available in which students live with a second host family and engage in internship-style experiences with local institutions outside of the Tokyo area.

Term Notes: Earlham College's application deadline is January 1 for all options (Full-Year, Fall/Winter, Winter/Spring). If participating in the Fall/Winter (fall semester + cultural practicum) program, compare the program's calendar with NU's academic calendar and, if necessary, contact the Japan Study office at Earlham College to verify that it will be possible to return prior to the start of Spring quarter.
Requirements:Students must apply for permission to study abroad through Northwestern by NU's early application deadline of January 7, 2013, and apply directly to Earlham for acceptance by its January 1, 2013 deadline.

Language Requirements:One year of college-level Japanese or the equivalent. This is a Northwestern requirement (Earlham College requires 1 quarter of college-level Japanese).
