Study Abroad Health Insurance

Northwestern University requires all study abroad students to have HTH Worldwide health insurance coverage for the entire period of time they are studying and traveling abroad, regardless of any other coverage they might have from their parents, Northwestern, or their study abroad program.

Some program providers require students to purchase insurance coverage through their program:

(1) Students enrolling in external programs that require insurance coverage other than HTH are required by Northwestern to purchase HTH through Northwestern, which has contracted with HTH to provide comprehensive (zero deductible) study abroad health insurance.

(2) If the external program requires HTH health insurance, Northwestern students are not required to purchase an additional HTH policy through Northwestern.
