Billing and Payments
This web page covers billing policies and anticipated payments:
- Paying deposits to your study abroad program.
- Billing arrangements for affiliated programs, and a listing of what charges will be billed to you by Northwestern.
- Paying for airfare, which is your responsibility.
Paying Deposits
Any deposits required will be paid to the program, not to the Study Abroad Office. Depending on the program, your deposit will be credited towards your NU invoice or the housing invoice from the program.Billing Arrangements
If you are attending an affiliated study abroad program, your family will receive an invoice from Northwestern University for your study abroad program tuition and the NU Study Abroad Administrative Fee (SAAF). Many programs also have room, board, and other charges billed through Northwestern University, but these may also be billed directly to your family or to you on-site.If you are attending an unaffiliated program, you are responsible for paying your programs directly for all charges except the SAAF. Northwestern University will bill you for the SAAF.

You and your parents will receive details about electronic billing procedures and selection of billing options before their fall billing dates. A paper bill option will be available, but students must specifically request it by logging in through CAESAR to QuikPAY®, the electronic billing and payment service.
