Interested in Studying Abroad?
Step 1: Take the mandatory Study Abroad 101 Quiz on Blackboard. You can take the quiz as many times as needed to score a 90% or above. To register for the quiz, send an email to studyabroad@northwestern.edu with "Study Abroad 101" in the subject line. Include your name and net ID in the email. You can begin taking the quiz provided you have:
- Sent an email to studyabroad@northwestern.edu requesting to be
registered for the quiz; and
- Received a confirmation email from the Study Abroad Office notifying you that you have been registered. Be patient! This can take up to one week.
Please note that students planning on applying to a Northwestern-run summer program only do NOT need to complete the 101 Quiz and should instead consult the individual summer program pages for application instructions.
Step 2: After successfully earning a 90% or above on the quiz, stop by the Study Abroad Office (630 Dartmouth Place) to pick up the NU Application for Permission to Study Abroad. This application is not available online.
- Students interested in Study Abroad in 2009-10 are free to take the quiz now and then pick up the application later in the year or in the fall of 2008.
Step 3: (Strongly recommended, but not required) Schedule an appointment with a Study Abroad Adviser to discuss program options and specific concerns. For students interested in studying abroad on a Non-Northwestern summer program, this step IS required and students should plan on meeting with a study abroad advisor well in advance of the March 5 summer deadline.
Step 4: Apply to study abroad.
- June 2: Winter/Spring 2009 application deadline
The deadlines for Fall/Full Year 2009-10 will be posted in Fall 2008.
