Chicago Campus

Two separate mixes are collected:

Mix 1

  • Cans (aluminum, bi-metal/tin, and steel)
  • Glass bottles (brown, green, and clear)
  • Plastic (all types, including polystyrene/Styrofoam)

Mix 2

  • Mixes Paper (office paper, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, and paperboard)

There are separate bins for each mix. Cans, glass, and plastic do not need to be sorted, but they must be kept separate from the other mixes. All bins are clearly marked, so remember to read the stickers and properly sort your recyclables. There are different methods of collection on each campus. Please contact NU Recycling if you have questions.
