A web content management system (WCMS) is software that allows users to author web sites without needing to learn programming languages or markup.

Web Communications licenses Cascade CMS, a web-based WCMS that can be accessed with virtually any modern browser. Cascade provides collaboration tools, including content ownership and workflow, stale content and broken link reports, and powerful auditing and version control.

A number of university units use Cascade to build SEO-friendly, accessible sites. Users may update their own content using in-context, wysiwyg forms. Since Cascade is decoupled from the web servers hosting each site, the published sites are fast and secure.
