Through SIT courses and an independent study project, students examine the diverse forces shaping contemporary Moroccan society, with particular emphasis on ethnicity, culture, and human rights.  Students gain or enhance speaking, reading, and writing skills in Modern Standard Arabic, with further language practice of spoken Moroccan Arabic (darija) and an introduction to Berber, the Moroccan Arabic dialect.

Admission Info:

To apply, Northwestern students must: 

  1. Complete a Northwestern Study Abroad Application by the appropriate deadline
  2. Complete an SIT application by the program's deadline

Language Requirements: 

None; however, students take an intensive Arabic language class during the program.
