This program is designed for students interested in exploring a wide variety of subjects on Czech culture and society including history, media, art, religion, literature, and politics. Participants take a required Czech language class and CIEE courses with other study abroad students, and have the option of directly enrolling in classes at Charles University or FAMU, Central Europe's preeminate film school, with international students (however, see important note below about courses not being transferable if worth less than 2 semester credits).  For-credit internships are also available with local NGOs.

Admission Info:

To apply, Northwestern students must:

  1. Complete a Northwestern Study Abroad Application by the appropriate deadline
  2. Complete a CIEE application by the program's deadline

Languages: English, Czech

Language Requirements: 

Students must take a Czech language course on the program in order to fulfill Northwestern's study abroad language requirement.


Czech homestay, CIEE-administered residence hall or CIEE-administered apartments. Breakfast and dinner provided at homestays; residence halls and apartments are self-catered.
