The Well-Being Project

How to stay well in times of challenge and uncertainty

Presented by: Cindy Conlon, Adjunct Lecturer, SESP Undergraduate Program

  • Thursday, 4/23, at 1:30 – 2 PM

We are all living in a time of great uncertainty, being asked to adapt to challenging situations in both our personal and professional lives. In this online session you will have the opportunity to engage in two evidence-based practices that you can use to boost your physical and emotional well-being. Come join!

Fostering Student’s Wellbeing in a Time of Changing Cannabis Laws
  • March 4th, 2020
  • 12:00pm-1:30pm
  • Searle room 3.220 (633 Emerson)
Please join us for an informative session on cannabis laws led by staff from Health Promotion and Wellness and Student Conduct. On January 1st, 2020, Illinois became the 11th state to legalize recreational cannabis for adults 21 and over. This presents a unique situation for those working with college aged populations where access will become more available. This session will touch on the approach Northwestern currently takes towards addressing substance use among students and what we must do based on law, while also providing information on the basics of cannabis in 2020, student health behavior data, myths and facts, and resources available to support student wellbeing. The session will culminate in a Q&A session.

First-Generation Journeys
  • Thursday, January 30th
  • 8:30am-10:30am
  • Searle room 3.220 (633 Emerson)
Please join us for the first session in our first-generation student series happening on Thursday, January 30th from 8:30am-10:30am in Searle room 3.220 (633 Emerson) presented by Alejandro Magaña, Associate Director of Multicultural Student Affairs and Mayra Garces, Assistant Director of Student Enrichment Services. This is the first of a series of sessions happening in winter and spring quarters focusing on first-generation college students.

In this session, we will watch “First-generation Journeys: Confronting, Challenging, & Crossing Academic Borderlands” webinar originally presented by NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Following our viewing of the webinar, we will engage in a focused discussion about key ideas presented in the webinar as well as ideas that inform our day-to-day work with first-generation students here at Northwestern University.

Alternatively, if you cannot join us for the whole time, you may view the webinar ahead of time here, and join us for the discussion facilitated by Alejandro and Mayra at 9:45am.

A light breakfast will be provided at 8:30am, and the viewing of the webinar will begin promptly at 9:00am. Please RSVP for either Webinar + Discussion or Discussion Only by completing the Google Form below and remember to bring your Wildcard to check-in. We hope to see you there!
