Assessing Campus Climate

Regularly assessing how various groups of students experience Northwestern is key to the assessment strategy in Student Affairs. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are utilized in this effort.

Profile of the College Student Experience (every three years)

The Profile of the College Student Experience is a national survey in which Student Affairs participates every three years. It explores students’ perceptions of a number of dimensions of campus climate.

Campus Climate/Sexual Assault (new in 2015)

This spring, like many other institutions in the country, Northwestern will heed the recommendation from the White House and survey its students about campus climate and sexual assault. The data from this survey will be used to inform and improve our policies, procedures and programs.

Campus Climate: What Are Students Telling Us? (2013)

This report, completed in 2013, summarizes the findings related to campus climate from sixteen surveys conducted at Northwestern between 2007 and 2013.

Students Perceptions of Racial/Ethnic Campus Climate at Northwestern University (Spring 2012 Focus Groups)

This report summarizes the findings from a series of focus groups conducted by Student Affairs in Spring 2012 that explored students' perceptions of the racial/ethnic climate at Northwestern University and listened to their ideas for how it could be improved.
