A University-wide survey of Northwestern staff was conducted in November 2017 to gather feedback about our staff experience in a unified, confidential way. 6,793 staff were invited to take the survey. Northwestern’s participation rate was 73%.

Engagement is the state of emotional and intellectual involvement that motivates people to do their best work. 64% of Northwestern staff are engaged. According to our survey partner’s database, Northwestern’s engagement score is on par with the US average across all industries, and above the global average for Higher Education.

The results point the way toward strengths to sustain and opportunities for improving our staff experience. Discussions are in process across campus to determine focus areas and build action plans. By late spring, focus areas will be determined and shared, and by the fall of 2018, action plans will be in place.
