Back Pain

Back pain can be caused for numerous different events, some serious and others can be healed with rehabilitation. Pain can occur in the neck, mid-back, or low back.
Back pain that needs to be seen immediately:
- A fall or slip
- Radiating pain down leg(s) or arm(s)
- Numbness or weakness in leg(s) or arm(s)
- Debilitating pain
- Fever
Care and Management
Depending on the cause of your pain, care and management will vary. Until you see a physician there are a few things you can do to manage your pain.
- Rest: Avoid placing more stress on your back. Minimize aggravating activity until assessed by a physician.
- Ice: Use ice for pain relief. You can apply ice for 10-20 minutes every hour.
