Although desktop video conferencing has been around for a number of years, it has not been utilized in a production mode in our department. We have had a number of individuals that have been evaluating the software CuSeeMe and others for some time. However, until recently we did not have a great need to use it in our day to day operation. Recently, we merged several departments, located in various remote facilities on campus. This merge has increased the need for joint meetings. The price for hardware has dropped considerably in the past year, and now many machines now on our desks have multimedia capability. This paper will cover how we are implementing video conferencing technology in our day to day meeting environment and what challenges we encountered along the way.
