The Sexual Harassment Prevention Office is charged with publishing and distributing the University’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct and related procedures; educating members of the Northwestern community about Title IX and the University’s policies; investigating complaints of violations of the University’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct, and working with other relevant offices to resolve complaints.

The Office of Student Conduct  provides leadership in resolving student conduct and conflict issues at Northwestern; supports the development of community, learning and integrity on campus and beyond; and manages the University’s formal disciplinary processes, the University Hearing and Appeals System (UHAS) and the Sexual Assault Hearing and Appeals System (SAHAS).

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access ensures that University policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local civil rights laws and investigates charges and allegations of discrimination and harassment.  This office provides leadership and resources to help ensure that no person is discriminated against or harassed on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, parental status, marital status, age, disability, citizenship status, veteran status, genetic information, or any other classification protected by law, in matters of admissions, employment, housing, services, or in educational programs or activities that Northwestern operates.

The Northwestern University Police Department (NUPD) provides a full range of services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NUPD offers victims’ assistance services and has responsibility for criminal investigation.

Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence

The Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence (CCSV) is charged by the Vice President of Student Affairs with assessing and improving campus policies, prevention programs and response services dealing with sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking. The CCSV has more than 60 members from diverse student groups, campus departments and community agencies. The CCSV meets once a month during the fall, winter and spring quarters and presents a report with recommendations for change on a yearly basis.

Title IX Coordinating Committee

The University has a Title IX Coordinating Committee that coordinates the University’s compliance with Title IX’s requirements. The Committee is comprised of members of the Sexual Harassment Prevention Office, the Office of Student Conduct, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, the Dean of Students’ Office, the Athletics Department, the Women’s Center, Office of Global Safety & Security, International Office, CARE, CAPS, and the NUPD.
