TCP Eligibility & Application

Eligibility

Graduate students or postdoctoral fellows from any program may apply, provided they meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be in residence at Northwestern for all three consecutive quarters in the year they will participate.
  • Applicants must have advanced to candidacy OR articulate a clear statement on why they are pursuing the program at this time.
  • Applicants are strongly recommended to engage in a substantive teaching experience at some point during or soon after the program.

Application

TCP participants are selected each spring via a competitive application process. 

Current applicants should receive notification of their application status in mid-June. 

 

Applications for the 2021-22 TCP Cohort are now open.

Applications will be open until Monday, April 19, 2021.

The Teaching Certificate Program online application includes:

  • A description of how participation in the program will contribute to the applicant’s professional development.
  • A description of what the applicant hope to learn as a result of participating in the program.
  • Identification of a faculty mentor (if known at this time). 
  • If applicable, a description of the teaching context the applicant plans to complete while in or soon after the program.
