Letter to Students

August 2022
To All Northwestern University Undergraduate Students and Parents:

We are pleased to inform you about an insurance program offered to undergraduate students by A.W.G. Dewar, Inc., called the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP).

This is a private insurance program that supplements Northwestern's refund policy by providing a refund of 100% of tuition and applicable room and board charges if, due to an illness, accident, or mental health condition a student takes a leave of absence or withdraws after the beginning of a quarter.

Dewar's TRP extends and works in concert with the published Northwestern University refund policy. Subscribers are provided a 100% refund throughout the quarter even though Northwestern's own refund policy may have expired at the time of withdrawal. The proceeds may be used to pay any educational loan in the event the student withdraws or the money may simply be refunded to the family.

Participation in the Dewar TRP is entirely optional. Northwestern University does not endorse this or any other private tuition insurance program, but I invite you to read the Coverage Details section and consider the suitability of the TRP for you and your family.

If you are interested in participating in the Dewar Plan online, you must submit the application and payment by September 20, 2022. Online applications cannot be accepted after that date. If you have questions about the plan, please address them to A.W.G. Dewar, Inc., (617) 774-1555.

Sincerely,
