She is currently interested in medical anthropology and borderland politics, and plans to pursue these interests in graduate school. Julia was introduced to anthropology through the Undergraduate Research Assistant Program where she worked with Professor Cynthia Robin on developing a community archaeology exhibit. Her current research interests have since been influenced by her personal experiences in El Paso, Texas. Through the fellowship, Julia hopes to research the complicated health-seeking behaviors at work in El Paso, and develop interventions to draw people back to the local health care system.
