Kathleen Nganga '18
Kathleen Nganga is a senior political science major in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University. In addition to her major, she is greatly interested in history, sociology, African American studies, and African studies. She is committed to improving political and educational outcomes for underserved groups; her research focuses on marginalization, policy responsiveness, as well as political mobilization and conflict in the United States and East African nations. Kathleen is a 2016 Truman Scholar, was a 2016 Foreign Language and Area Studies recipient for Swahili, and was a Posner Research Fellow in 2015. This year, she was also selected as a finalist for the 2017 Rhodes Fellowship. She plans to pursue a career in academia.
