Telling the stories of Black lives at Northwestern

As Archivist for the Black Experience, Charla Wilson’s job is to help explore and preserve the stories of Black lives at Northwestern — from the first known students of color to the Black students, faculty, staff and alumni currently working to shape the University community.

Northwestern Now talks with Wilson about how history is essential to understanding and addressing the racial inequity that persists today.

What’s next for the Women’s Center?

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Women’s Center will bring the campus community together by hosting a number of programs focused on this year’s annual theme, Mutual Aid and Community Engagement.

The center also will bestow the Shujaa Award on International Women’s Day — March 8 — to honor a Northwestern staff member whose service to the work of gender justice, equity and inclusion demonstrates courage, tenacity and an ethic of care. Nominations will be accepted through today.

Study: Can AI reduce time to breast cancer diagnosis?

A new research study from Northwestern Medicine and Google will explore whether artificial intelligence models can reduce the time to diagnosis for women whose mammograms show a higher likelihood of breast cancer.

The trial will evaluate if investigational AI models could help by prioritizing radiologist review of mammogram images with a higher suspicion of breast cancer.
