Track Shuttle Information on Mobile App

Updated mobile apps provide up-to-the-minute bus info, emergency dialing

February 14, 2011

EVANSTON, Ill. --- A new update of the Northwestern Mobile application for iPhones and Android-powered devices includes two new features: the ability to track university shuttle bus locations and one-click access to emergency phone numbers.

The transit module enables users to view shuttle bus route maps, scheduled stop times, and, for shuttles that are in service, real-time bus locations along the route. The live information is available for all of the shuttle bus routes operated by the University.

The emergency module provides main contact numbers for Northwestern University Police and the 911 emergency number, and allows the user to immediately dial the number from the app.

For instructions on how to download the apps, visit http://www.northwestern.edu/mobile.

The most recent version is the third update of the Northwestern app, which has been downloaded by more than 12,000 users since it launched last year. Further refinements and additions to the app are expected in the future.

The new additions to the Northwestern Mobile app were developed as a collaboration between Northwestern University Information Technology and the Department of University Relations.
