'Inside Out' Exhibition to Feature Undergraduate Artworks

May 21, 2008 | by Judy Moore
EVANSTON, Ill. --- The digital collage, copper sculpture, film still and mixed media artwork of undergraduate students in the Class of 2008 enrolled in Northwestern University's department of art theory and practice will be on display on the Evanston campus from May 16 through June 20.

The works will be among those featured in the Northwestern University Senior Undergraduate Art Majors Exhibition, "Inside|Out: Art Theory and Practice Senior Exhibition" at the Dittmar Memorial Gallery. The gallery is located on the first floor of Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive. The exhibition, and opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, are free and open to the public.

"Inside|Out" will feature art reflecting the common focus of this year's seniors: bridging the realms of the public and private. Each artist has explored how the two issues contrast and complement each other in cultural, societal and personal connotations. The annual spring exhibition also exemplifies the diverse ideas and styles of the artists in multiple media -- drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.

This year's exhibition includes artwork by 14 students, including Rachel Aherin, Eddie Chavez, Megan Chiou, Emma Cuciurean-Zapan, Rebecca Horning-Fleming, Stephanie Llamas, Britt Lower, Margot McKirdy, Sarah Mumma, Anisha Nadkarni, Baley Phelps, Cate Smierciak, Vanessa Soberanis and Sang Zhang.

The Dittmar Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Admission is free.
