Menominee Lumber at Welsh-Ryan Arena

dedication-event-flyer-upload.jpgIn 2018, the Welsh-Ryan Arena completed renovations that included lumber procured from the Menominee Tribal Enterprises (MTE). The lumber was used for the building of the Welsh-Ryan Arena basketball court and well as courts in the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion.

Northwestern University honored leaders from the Menominee Nation during the Men’s Basketball opening game Friday, November 2, 2018, the day the University formally unveiled the newly renovated Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Leadership from the Menominee Nation as well as a delegation from the Menominee Community Center of Chicago was invited to attend the game. During the game, Menominee Chairperson Doug Cox as well as the President of Menominee Tribal Enterprises (MTE), Laurie Reiter, and alumnus Sean Harte (WCAS '89) was presented with a game ball in dedication of the partnership. 

The game was preceded by a gathering in Scott Hall with remarks from leadership at Northwestern and Menominee.
