Duba Plains, one of the most remote camps in the Okavango Delta, is located on a 116-square-mile private concession known as the Kwedi Reserve. Six furnished tents feature en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and verandas overlooking the flood plain. The location for the National Geographic documentary Relentless Enemies (2006), Duba Plains is famous for the clashes between lion prides and giant herd of savannah buffalo. You can also find hippos and countless beautiful birds.
Kalahari Plains Camp is a new solar-powered camp in the 12-million-acre Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the country's largest conservation area. Six furnished tents with en-suite facilities are located on raised platforms that allow air to circulate. Cheetah, lions, wildebeest, oryx, ostriches, mongoose, bat-eared foxes, springbok (a type of antelope) and jackals are some of the species to see.
Xigera Camp has 10 furnished, tented rooms, with en-suite bathrooms, built on wooden decks in the midst of a waterfront, riverine forest. Located in the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta, one of the world's largest inland deltas, the camp's year-round water allows mokoro canoe trips and motorboat outings. Zebra, elephants, giraffe, lions, buffalo, antelope and baboons are among the animals you might see. — J.H.
