What does it mean to be an international student in the USA?  Explore the answers through a NEW weekly lunch + discussion series for international graduate students!  Presented by the IO, CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) and G-ISA (Graduate International Student Association).  Learn more + register here!

NU In...India, South Korea, and China!

Beginning in 2014, the IO has presented orientations to incoming international students & parents in South Korea, China & India each summer.  In 2017, 600+ students/parents met IO staff members, current students and made new friends.  NU In focuses on academic culture in the U.S., culture shock, preparing for life on campus, and the visa acquisition process. Registration for NU In 2018 will open in March!

Undergraduate International Student Orientation + IPAs

The IO hosts an annual 3-4 day orientation for new undergraduate international students, as well as a 1-day orientation for their parents and family members.  ISO includes information sessions and social activities on campus, in Evanston , and in Chicago.  The International Peer Advisors (IPAs) are current international and American student leaders for ISO.  More information will be posted soon on our orientation page.

Graduate International Student Orientation + Graduate Sidekicks

The IO also hosts an annual one-day orientation for new graduate international students.  G-ISO includes sessions for Master’s and Doctoral students on academic culture, life in the US and campus involvement.   Graduate Sidekicks are current graduate and American student leaders for G-ISO.   More information will be posted soon on our orientation page.

Bed Bath & Beyond trips

The IO partners with Bed Bath & Beyond (“BBB,” a chain of home goods stores) to offer shopping parties at the start of the academic year.  Parties feature free shuttle buses to and from campus, discounts, prizes and personal shoppers!  2015 photos

CANVAS classroom

New in 2017!  The IO uses CANVAS to provide information, connections and updates for new students.  All new students will be invited in Spring 2018.  Once you have your NetID, set up and check your new Northwestern email address regularly!
